T2 and Apple silicon Macs
On Macs with the T2 chip and on Apple silicon Macs, the storage is soldered to the logic board and encrypted. The only way to recover the files is to get the board working, which is why logic board repair and data recovery go together.
Older Macs
Older Intel Macs with removable drives can often have their data recovered directly from the drive.

Do you need my password?
For encrypted Macs you will need your login password or recovery key to access the files.

It depends on the fault. We give you an estimate after assessment.
