Butterfly keyboards
MacBook and MacBook Pro models from 2015 to 2019 used a thin butterfly keyboard that is prone to sticking and repeating keys. Cleaning can help for a while, but replacing the keyboard is the lasting fix.
After a spill
Switch the Mac off, unplug it and turn it upside down with the lid open. Do not switch it on to test it. Bring it in quickly, because liquid under the keyboard can reach the logic board.

Can you replace a single MacBook key?
Sometimes, if the key and its mechanism are available. For several faulty keys, a new keyboard is usually better value.
Is the keyboard part of the top case?
On most MacBooks the keyboard is riveted into the top case, which affects the repair. We explain the options before quoting.
How long does it take?
It depends on the model and parts, and we give you a date when you drop it off.
Do I need an appointment?
Not at our main workshop: walk in Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. For our Beckenham drop-off point, please call to book an appointment before you come.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes, repairs carry a 3-month warranty on parts and labour. It does not cover new accidental damage.
