About Redbridge
Redbridge takes in Ilford, Woodford and Wanstead.
A short history
Redbridge was formed in 1965, mainly from Ilford and Wanstead and Woodford, and takes its name from a red-brick bridge over the River Roding. Wanstead was once home to the grand Wanstead House, demolished in the 1820s, and Winston Churchill was the local MP for Woodford, where his statue stands on the green.
