A short history
The borough was formed in 1965 by merging Hammersmith and Fulham. Fulham Palace was the home of the Bishops of London for centuries, and the current Hammersmith Bridge dates from 1887. White City takes its name from the white exhibition halls built for the 1908 Franco-British Exhibition, when London also hosted the Olympic Games there.
