A short history of Chislehurst
Chislehurst Caves are miles of man-made tunnels dug for chalk and flint, and during the Second World War thousands of people sheltered there from air raids. The exiled French emperor Napoleon III lived at Camden Place in Chislehurst and died there in 1873.
