What we do
We open the laptop, clean the dust out of the fans and heatsink, replace the dried thermal paste on the processor and graphics chip, and check temperatures under load before handing it back.
How often?
For a gaming laptop or one that runs all day, once a year is a good habit. Using a laptop on a bed or sofa blocks the air vents and makes overheating worse.

Questions
Will cleaning make my laptop faster?
If it was slowing down because it overheated, yes. The processor no longer has to throttle to stay cool.
How long does it take?
A clean and thermal paste service is usually done the same day. A new fan may need ordering for some models.
Is overheating dangerous for my laptop?
Constant high temperatures wear out components and batteries faster, so it is worth fixing early.
Do I need an appointment?
Not at our main workshop: walk in Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. For our Beckenham drop-off point, please call to book an appointment before you come.
Is the repair guaranteed?
Yes, repairs carry a 3-month warranty on parts and labour. It does not cover new accidental damage.
