Keys missing or broken
Individual keys and clips replaced where possible.
Sticking or repeating keys
Common after spills or crumbs, and on some thin keyboards.
Whole keyboard dead
Often the keyboard or its cable, sometimes the board.
Backlight not working
Keyboard backlight or its connection has failed.
Trackpad not clicking
Worn trackpad, or pressure from a swelling battery.
Cursor jumping
Faulty trackpad, cable or a driver problem.
After a spill
Turn the laptop off, unplug it and turn it upside down to drain. Do not switch it back on to test it: liquid under the keyboard can reach the board. Bring it in as soon as you can, because corrosion gets worse over time.
Keyboards fixed to the case
On many modern laptops the keyboard is riveted or glued to the top case, so replacing it means replacing that section too. We tell you which type your laptop has before quoting.

Questions
Can you replace just one key?
Often, yes, if the key and its clip are available for your model. If several keys are faulty, a new keyboard is usually better value.
Why is my trackpad hard to click?
Sometimes the trackpad itself has worn, but a swelling battery underneath can also push it up. We check the battery at the same time.
How long does a keyboard repair take?
Many keyboard repairs are done the same day when the part is in stock.
Do I need an appointment?
Not at our main workshop: walk in Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. For our Beckenham drop-off point, please call to book an appointment before you come.
Is the repair guaranteed?
Yes, repairs carry a 3-month warranty on parts and labour. It does not cover new accidental damage.
