About Sutton

A short history
Sutton was formed in 1965 from Sutton and Cheam, Beddington and Wallington, and Carshalton. Henry VIII built the lavish Nonsuch Palace near Cheam, though it was demolished in the 1680s and only its park remains. Carshalton grew around its ponds and springs, which feed the River Wandle.
