A short history of Blackheath
Blackheath’s open heath has seen centuries of history. Wat Tyler’s rebels gathered here during the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381, and Jack Cade’s rebels camped here in 1450. Blackheath is also home to one of the oldest rugby clubs in the world, founded in 1858.
