A short history of Catford
Catford grew up around a ford across the River Ravensbourne and became the civic centre of Lewisham, with the town hall at its heart. The area was home to Catford Stadium, a well-known greyhound track, until 2003. The giant cat above the shopping centre is a local landmark.
