A short history of Beckenham
Beckenham is recorded in the Domesday Book and stayed a small Kent village until the railway arrived in 1857, when it grew into a busy suburb. In 1969 David Bowie ran the Beckenham Arts Lab at the Three Tuns pub on the High Street. It became part of the London Borough of Bromley in 1965.
